Why does the MonaVie Acai berry juice give me a headache?
I actually tried this juice about 6 months ago, after the dealer mistakenly gave me a case (6 one liter bottles) for only $35. I gave some to my friend and kept the rest. Unfortunately, after drinking only 2 teaspoons of the juice, I experienced a rush to my head — kind of like tension — but not something that was normal — this happened every time I drank the juice. It’s this weird feeling that doesn’t go away until about 15 min. later, however I just felt like this wasn’t supposed to happen. I asked my friend if she felt the same way when she drank the juice and she told me no. Is there anyone out there who has had the same experience? And if there is a medical professional reading this, could you perhaps explain what could be happening when I drink this juice? Thanks.

Check all of the berries in the juice and make sure there is not one in there you may be allergic to. It happened to a friend of mine>

The juice is not sold in retail stores; it is a shady multilevel marketing scheme and the chief operators have been in trouble with the FDA in the past. The juice contains some nasty preservatives like sodium benzoate, which could have caused your reaction. However, with a shady unregulated company like this, you have no idea what they might be putting in the juice on the assembly line. You could have got a bad batch that was contaminated or had too much preservative in it. Bottom line…don’t trust your health to companies like Monavie. Try some of the other inexpensive acai juices instead, like Sambazon, Knudsen, or V8 acai.

The person above who commented on the company putting preservatives in the juice doesn’t not know what they are talking about. That is not so! And as a distributor, we can walk thru the plant and they are compliant with all standards.
Just wanted to say you got a really good deal if you paid $35.00 for 6 bottles. Wow! I’ve been a distributor for 2 years now and have never heard of anyone with your complaints, however there are 19 fruits in the juice and you could have some type of allergy to one of them.
There is Acai berry, apricot, aronia, acerola, purple grape, passion fruit, camu camu, banana, lychee fruit, nashi pear, kiwi, pomegranate, prune, wolfberry, pear, bilberry, cranberry, blueberry and white grape. These fruits are synergisticly blended for their natural benefits and provide the widest spectrum of disease fighting, health enhancing phytonutrients and antioxidants along with essential fatty acids, fiber, vitamines and minerals. The berry is freeze dried by a special patented pending process so when it is reconstituted, the nutritional value is almost what the fresh picked berry was. The company also is very eco conscious. Many companies go into the rain forests and the way they harvest the fruit kills the trees, thus killing off the rain forests. Monavie does not. When they are done the trees will continue to bear fruit year after year. It is a concentrated juice and not diluted with water like many other products. Fruits from around the world were tested for the best nutritional value and those are the ones they use in the juice. It is a great product.
The Center for disease control states 70-80% of people do not consume the recommended 2-4 servings of fruit per day. 1 oz of Monavie = 100% of your daily recommended intake of fruits.
I’ve seen one person who was allergic to banana and couldn’t drink the juice. Actually she wouldn’t try it and I don’t blame her. I have to say in the majority of people I’ve worked with, it worked wonders. The other possibliity with your expierence is perhaps that is how your body is trying to detoxify. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I use my before and after pics to show people, and they are miraculous. That juice did something none of the doctors I’ve seen could. It started nourishing my cells from the inside out instead of destroying them and my kidneys with medications. I have to say I was going thru a bottle every few days. It’s nutrition. I probably would have had to eat a basket full of fruit to equal out what I drank.
I do hope this helps. If you have something specific, e-mail me and I will ask the company. They have answered questions for me before.
It is sold by distributors, so the product doesn’t sit on a shelf for extended periods. Also this gives normal people like you and I to make a living by helping other people. It’s called free interprise and I love it. wwrn
