Hi i am intersted in getting a tree, where did you get yours. Do they grow from seed and how long does it take for the fruit.

Mine are growing well in Florida. You have to pasturize acai from Brazil because if a possum or other rodent sits on a lata eating berries and poops on the berries anyone who eats the poop can get chagas disease, a parasite that eats heart muscle. It kills about 50,000 Brazilians a year. Look it up in wikipedia. It isn’t pretty. You can’t get it in the USA.

Can I grow one in Florida?

cooking them will destroy most of the nutrients, pasturization is only needed for commercially sold products. just soak seeds in water, then skin is easily removed, squeeze out seeds, then your ready. puree them, then freeze for storage, you can then mix that in with frozen yogurt to make a smoothie. there are lots of recipes on the web.

i heard that you can’t eat them off the tree, you have to puree them and you have to cook them.

I got some Acai Trees from AcaiFarms and they are doing great. The Acai berries taste better when they are fresh off the tree. That imported frozen stuff is not so good.
