Hello jbabie,

I have tried quite a few acai products, most of which were juice blends although I have also had freeze-dried acai juice powder. I did try some of the pure acai berry juice, from a company called Genesis Today, which was very pure and high quality, but it definitely tastes more pleasant when mixed with a bit of another juice or natural sweetener.

From my experience (I have worked in the supplements industry and as a nutritionist for a little over 13 years), I think the best results come about when using acai as an energizer. I would consume anywhere from 1-4 ounces first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, to maximize absorption. I would also consider consuming another 1-2 ounces mid-day.

The amount to drink depends on the concentration of the juice. If it is the pure stuff, one ounce taken twice a day would yield some results, although it would be a subtle effect. For therapeutic use, you could bump that up to 2-4 ounces taken twice daily. That would increase the antioxidant properties and the energizing properties quite nicely.

If the acai berry juice product is diluted with other fluids, you would have to drink more, depending on the degree of dilution. Check the ingredient list to see what other juices or fluids (like water) are included. If there’s lots of other stuff before the listing for acai berry juice, drink closer to 4 ounces twice a day.

Ultimately, listen to your body. Try a product and pay attention to how it makes you feel. Next day, try a little more and compare it to the first day. Your body will let you know if it likes it or not by making you feel good, bad, or no different.

Just to throw this out there, I don’t drink coffee. It doesn’t treat me well when I drink it. On mornings when I am really tired, I can slam down a bottle of an acai berry juice blend over the course of 30 minutes or so and it really lifts me up.

There’s so many products in stores that say Acai Berry on them (or just plain Acai). Is there one type in particular that is supposed to work? I have some Acai gel capsules that I bought at Wal-Mart and they don’t do ANYTHING!

Acai berry is a scam, it doesn’t really do anything. Neither do all those other weight loss supplements and drugs or weird exercise gadgets.

The only truly effective method of losing weight is to eat less and exercise more. If that’s too much work, then just eat less, it works nearly as well.

I’ve heard acai berry is good for loosing weight, however the bottle doesn’t say anything on it about helping with weight loss…..

They are good boosting your immune system with the antioxidants. They certainly wont hurt but as far as for weight loss I have seen those ads about it helping you lose weight but I don’t know if it will work by itself. I use a program that shows you what exercises to do to get the best results and also shows you how to eat healthier. I have lost a large amount of weight and the one thing you need to understand is you a have to change the way you eat for the rest of your life if you want results that are permanent. (also ends yo-yo dieting and the temptations to take unhealthy supplements) I am so glad that I did and some of the foods you eat can actually help you lose weight and this program teaches you that too. I still follow it!
